Purpose
The Needs Assessment will help identify training
and technical assistance priorities, resources
needs and include a knowledge gap analysis. It
will help benchmark the mayors’ strengths and
challenges as well as brownfields redevelopment
opportunities. Additionally, the Assessment
will help identify the relative levels of
expertise, staffing and access to federal and
state funding. We anticipate information
gathering that promotes brownfields assessments,
cleanup and ultimately land use decisions and
planning that result in sustainable
redevelopment
Next Steps
SCDG
has initiated the planning process with
NCBM to obtain input from mayors on the
Needs Assessment design. Following the design
phase, we will implement the Needs Assessment
via a combination of internet surveys,
conference calls, focus groups and other
interviews. We anticipate finalized data
collection and analyses in September 2009. In
the interim, 1-2 web-based seminars will be
scheduled to introduce the GOBP and
launch the training curriculum.
